First Mother's Day

My first Mother's Day was one of my favorite days so far! I have longed to be a mother, for forever really, and finally getting to celebrate the fact that I am indeed now a mom, just makes me want to cry happy tears.

Anora's gift to me was sleeping through the night & it was the best gift I could have received. We woke up energized and played together in the bath. Ben made me a French toast breakfast that was delightful while Anora looked on from her bumbo. Then our little family of three strolled down to Starbucks for a morning tea and enjoyed the sunshine. After church we made phone calls to our moms and told them how important they are to us. That afternoon we went to the arboretum for a nice stroll. It was beautiful and I feed Anora under a big tree. Anora loved it. When we got home, Ben pulled out some champagne and made us dinner and gave me our first framed family photo. Gorgeous! It was a perfect day. On top of it all I got a couple surprise gifts and several cards from my generous and thoughtful friends! I am so blessed with the people in my life! I often feel so undeserving.

I am so proud to be Anora's mom and just beam when I look at her. I had no idea my heart could hold so much love. Yet, already there are challenging moments and no doubt challenging years ahead, and still it all feels special. It gives me a new appreciation for my mom (and all moms really)! It's a big job, a heavy job, but such a gift. In Anora's face I see innocence and beauty. I see me and Ben's union blessed by the heavens!

Bumbo

We are having so much fun watching Anora sit up in the bumbo these days. She looks like a little adult! Her neck is getting stronger, but she does lean to one side. I like that she gets a new view point and can hang out with the big kids :)

In other news, she has been lifting weights!

And she still loves bath time!

Ouch!

Anora got her 2 month vaccines today. Hardest day of being a mommy. She cried so hard when they pricked her poor baby legs three times. They also had to give her an oral medication which she sputtered and choked through. I nursed her after and she was fine. Since then she has been very sleepy and when she does wake up cranky. This afternoon I was holding her as she slept and she randomly threw up - a lot - an hour and a half after she had last eaten. Good thing I was with my new mommy friends who sympathized and told me puking was normal.

Alas, we still enjoyed our record setting Seattle day! It was 86 degrees, sunny, and beautiful! Mt Rainier was out in full force! We picnicked in the shade, lounged, and went on on nice walk (with 5 other mommies and babies)! We were quite the spectacle! Anora has more friends here then I do ;)

Found my hands!

Anora has been entertaining herself the past couple days with her hands. She moves them around in front of her face and stares!! She has also been grabbing onto things like her blanket and rubs it against her face. This morning as I was changing her diaper she still had her eyes closed, because she was sleepy, and ended up grabbing the curtain and rubbing it all over her face. It was so cute :) She has been more smiley and will giggle from time to time. Her baby acne has all gone away and her skin is looking smooth as butter! She's so much fun to be around and lately she's been hanging around...

Two months!!

My baby is two months old today! Wow time flies! It's funny how quickly your brain forgets the labor and delivery. I can't even remember specifics about the pain. The human body is remarkable. Anyway, Anora is just as beautiful as the day she was born. She's starting to fill out in her cheeks and growing longer. This week will probably be the last week I can squeeze her into her newborn cloths. This is a sad milestone for mama. She smiles, laughs and makes noises these days. I think her voice is lovely. The last two nights she slept for 7 hours!! Hope this can continue. She has lots of friends already and stared at the other little baby boy at PEPS last night. She's a happy baby more often then not and her papa and I think everything she does is the cutest!! Love this baby :)

Happy Easter!

Anora was spoiled already this Easter with two baskets! Each set of grandparents mailed her a care package. Gammy & grandpa Meier sent two kinds of cookies along with a cuddly lamb and a book called 'Hatch'! G-pa & G-am sent a basket with chocolate, a bunny, a book and bunny ears!

She is such a lucky baby!

Anora is here!

As most of you know by know, We welcomed our little gal into the world on Feb 27th, 2014! She is simply perfect and we love her more with each passing day. She is already 7 weeks old and smiles throughout the day. She can see well and follows us as we walk around her or move toys in front of her. She loves being social and behaves well or sleeps when we are out and about. Her pooping is impressive and I have already been projectile pooped on countless times. She is always pleased with herself after a pooping escapade so it's hard not to laugh.

Here is a video of our little sunshine!
