The previous day Chrissy had gotten a brand new board, bindings and snow pants. She was so excited that she had to don here new gear to get ready for the days to come. I must say she does look pretty B.A. all suited-booted in her new gear.
Mike arrived late friday night feeling hungry from flying all day so we took him out to eat at our local favorite greasy spoon called the Five Point (which also happens to be a laundry mat). We ended up going to bed around 1:00am and had to wake up at 6:00am to go boarding at Steven's Pass. Early, yes. But well worth it! The mountain was full of fresh snow for us to plunder. Both Mike and Chrissy were so pumped about the boarding experience/environment. The could not stop talking about how much fun they were having. mike had even said that this was the best snowboarding experience of his life, "even better than Utah" (see video below, sorry Aaron ;)
Chrissy was also a natural out there. Even though she has boarding before, it has been awhile since she's been out so I was a little wary of her being on the mountain. After the first run I was ashamed and sorry that I had any doubts. She boards as good as she looks all bundled up. Smooth too (see video below).
It got super foggy at one point, so much so that we could barely see 20 feet ahead of us. It was like we were boarding through a cloud. Chrissy had even wandered off the path a little ways. She said "It got really quiet and I was in deep fresh powder. I figured this wasn't the way to go." We waited for a bit then saw here crest the hill a ways away.
Aaron came out wednesday to join Mike in some boarding fun. Unfortunately I had to work all day all that week so I could partake in the mind-blowing adventure to Mount Baker. If you have never heard of Mt. Baker, just do a google search and you will find that it is one of the best places to board in the united states. Many Pro's are seen there being airlifted and dropped on the summit by helicopters. They said it was absolutely amazing there! I got a text from Mike while I was at work saying "Bomb Diggity!". Had to rub it in... They said they even hiked to the top of a smaller summit above the tree line and boarded down some fresh, untouched powder. They said it was like floating on air. Once they got down they were yelled at by Ski Patrol cause it apparently was an Avalanche Zone and they didn't have avalanche gear. Crazy.
All in all both Mike and Aaron said that they had a fun trip. We definitely enjoyed their time here. We STILL have leftovers from all of the food we ate (although none from Navya, thankfully). We were working on moving Mike out here. He knows how much fun it is out here and he said he'd think about it. So now if I can only get my brother out here...
