Snow Day!

So if you are not aware, Seattle gets very little snow. Sure we have surrounding mountains that have a plethora of snow, but here in the city it will only snow maybe once a year. Yesterday and today are one of those days.

Though it was only about an inch or two, things got out of control. Seattle drivers are terrible as it is, much less when it's raining and god foribbid that it snows. Of course nobody was prepared, even though they had ample time to get ready. Bald summer tires + icy/snowy roads mixed with hills = traffic jams. Actually a traffic jam is an understatement. Every single highway was 1-2 mph traffic. Literally. It took me nearly 2 & 1/2 hours to get home when it normally takes me 25 minutes. I was even cutting through parking lots and taking back roads home. It was absolute chaos and it nearly drove me insane. Good thing I was prepared and put on my sweet snow tires. I hit the SNOW traction setting on my 4 wheel drive and completely dominated the snow and icy hills. Man I love my car! Here is a video of my drive home (of course I had to have a little fun ;)

Fall Part 2

So as you can tell we have a new background to commemorate the changing of the seasons. During this festive fall holiday we get to celebrate one of the greatest holidays ever, Halloween! This includes the highly creative art of carving pumpkins. Being seasoned carvers ourselves we wanted to do something to showcase our skills in the culinary pumpkin world. Although the task is a tedious one, it is well worth the effort put forth, removing pumpkin guts and the like.

Chrissy decided to made a sweet but evil looking owl character. It definitely captured the essence of Halloween. I on the other hand decided to go with something that touched home for me; something I am proud to be a part of. THE WISCONSIN BADGERS!

Halloween night we didn't even know if we were going to get dressed up. We hadn't gotten any outfits ready nor had we much energy to fully enjoy Halloween like it should be celebrated. Although around 5:00 pm we rallied and put together some outfits that ended up working pretty good! Chrissy was a Geisha while I was "That Guy"(?). Antoni and Chirag joined in the festivities portraying Scoobie Doo and some punk rock goth singer dude, respectively. I am glad we decided to get dressed up. I wouldn't have let myself live it down if I hadn't dressed up for Halloween. I've been doing it since I was like 3-4, why stop now?

Even little Shayli was all dolled up in the cutest ladybug outfit I have ever seen.

The Next morning I decided to make Chrissy breakfast in bed. Don't forget your vitamins!

We then went to the Arboretum. The trees were out in full effect showing their true colors of fall. We saw some of the most vibrant colors ever imaginable. It was a gorgeous sight to behold and a wonderful reminder how beautiful mother nature can be at times. This was also a photography trip for both Chrissy and I. We felt like we were taking a photo class for school (which I think a lot of people were actually doing there since it's right by the UW).

We ended up going again the next weekend so we could check out the Japanese Gardens. It was also gorgeous and breathtaking, not to mention, serene and peaceful. This was part two of the photography session. This time I wanted to take a more experimental approach which included the use of my scantly used red filter. I didn't know which ones to post so I just posted a bunch of them for your viewing pleasure. Please let me know which ones catch your eye.
