The Schauers Visit - May 2013

We had the privilege of hosting the Triple (going on Quadruple) A's a few weeks back.  They have been by far our most frequent visitors over the last 4 years of our lives here in Seattle and we couldn't be more grateful for all the time they take to come see us!  It's been so amazing to be more involved in their lives.
They arrived May 6th and the adventures began!  I had to work most of the weekdays, but was able to sneak away on some of the afternoons to hang out with the Schauers clan.  Regardless, Lexi and I had a wonderful morning routine going were she would hang out with me at my desk for a bit, we would eat some breakfast, and then she would always want to mimic my makeup and get a little eyeshadow and lip gloss.  So we had fun getting ready together! We even painted our nails together one day :)

One afternoon we went to the market and Lexi got to meet the piggy.  We enjoyed the always delicious Beecher's Mac & Cheese and Pirochkys!
Another night we walked down to the West Seattle Junction for the Art Walk!  Ben got me a funky new bracelet (demoed below by Lexi), and Lexi walked away with a mini cupcake from Cupcake Royal!

Right by our house there is a great scenic overlook of Seattle where we stopped for a photo opp.

While Lexi was here we did a crayon art project together too!  Here she is with the final product!

One evening we ate a BBQ dinner on our patio.  I love when the weather gets nice and we can eat outside!

Afterwords we hit the beach for a quick walk and some awesome people watching.

Amy brought me to Costco one evening.  Later, we decided to make personal pizzas!  Here is Lexi making hers :)
Meanwhile the boys were putting up the basketball hoop!  It is finally complete and we definitley played a few serious games of H-O-R-S-E!

Though we did a good job of eating in, we also did eat out a bit.  Check out that HUGE pizza pie from Zeek's!  And the pistachio cake from Bakery Nouveau, yum!

On the last couple days of their stay, Aaron's brother Jared, and his wife, Heather, stayed with us before they headed out on their Alaskan cruise!  We brought them first to Alki beach, then to the market via the West Seattle water taxi.

We showed them all the "hot" spots of Seattle and brought them to all the yummy places to eat :)

Riding the mono rail to the Space Noodle!

Hopefully it won't be long until we see this fun bunch again with their newest edition coming in August!  Thanks, as always, for visiting us!!!

Easter!

A little out of order, but....We had a lovely Easter this year.  We got some sunshine in March which made the day even more wonderful!  We went to church that morning, then had friends over in the afternoon.  We hung out outside and dyed eggs!

Later we ate quite a feast!

HOPE YOU ALL HAD A COLORFUL EASTER AS WELL!!!

Macklemore Pizza Party!

Hey there music lovers!  As you all know, Ben and I are OBSESSED with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.  From dancing at our wedding to his 'And We Danced' song, to seeing him in concert many times, buying albums, posting videos, wearing "my city's filthy" t-shirts, and funding his kickstarter, you could say we have been fans for a bit.  Most recently Macklemore hosted a contest to do some sort of artistic expression of the Heist Flag.

Ben, having both a creative and engineering mind, decided to create the flag using 3D modeling CAD software. He then used a 3D printer to print it out of plastic.  He then painted it and took photos of his creation to submit!  And Lo and Behold!  HE WON!  It earned us tickets to a secret event!  We got to join 100 others and their guests at the Colombia City Theater!  It was thrilling to be a part of this special show.
We were interviewed by some folks at Craker Jackd who sponsored the event, but didn't make the final cut of their video.  Boo :(

In other news, I unveiled my new RED hair :)
We had pizza and drinks and sang along to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis as they performed.
BUT!!!  The highlight of the evening was the unveiling of their newest video "Can't Hold Us".  It's epic!  Check it out below.

Raise those hands, this is our party!  We came here to live life like nobody was watchin'.  I got my city right behind me, if I fall, they got me.  Learn from the failure, gain humility, and then we keep marchin'!

Mike's Annual visit - March 2013

Hello Friends!  Happy June!  This is another long over due post, but here it is anyhow.  Well Mike & Billy came to visit back in March and we had a grand ole time!  One of the first things we did was enjoy SMASH PUTT - those pictures are posted in the previous post here.  Here's a quick reminder of us enjoying ourselves ....

The next day we spent time at Alki beach enjoying some coffee beverages and the sun!

That night we went to my friend Hartley's penthouse that over looks lake Union.  We played a lot of the dance party game that me and my friends made up and always thoroughly enjoy.  Mike got SO into the dance moves that he temporarily injured his arm.

The next day we went to Volunteer Park Cafe for some breakfast
and then went on the hunt for Bruce Lee's grave.  After walking around and admiring headstones for nearly an hour, we finally found his grave, right where we had started.

Volunteer Park is a conservatory and has a tower that you can climb up (in our case, literally) to see a great view of the City.

This is a cool orb at the park that you can see the space needle through!

We loved the koi pond and spent a looong time admiring the fishies!

It wasn't the most beautiful day...rainy mostly, but is was nice to get outside and see some Seattle Sights that none of us had visited before.

The next day we decided to go for a hike to view some of the wonderful greenery Washington has to offer.  We hiked Little Mt. Si.  This was one of my favorite times going because there was no one but us once we made it to the top!  So peaceful!

That night we had dinner with some friends at Phoencia on Alki beach...here was what I got to eat.  YUMMY!

The next morning we indulged in some Top Pot Doughnuts, a Seattle favorite.  We visited the location in Capital Hill so we could hit up Mike's favorite thrift shop afterwords.
It was wonderful to have professional painters as guests, because they painted our first wall since we have moved in!  A nice bright buttercup!  It was key they were here when I purchased the paint because I had no idea I would have to decide between eggshell and satin.  Or that the wall texture mattered.  Color me ignorant in the paint department!
We were also very honored to have my brother Mike here on his BIRTHDAY, March 13th!!!
Aaron flew in from Utah that day and we celebrated with dinner, ice cream cake, and SPOONMAN!  Mike's old friend from high school, Todd Clouser, was playing in his band A Love Electric at the Nectar Lounge that night feat. the Spoonman.  If you don't know who the spoonman is, check out this video.

This was over a week long visit so stay with me, I know this is a long post :)
The next day we partook in Seattle Restaurant week and ate at Cutter's a very fancy seafood restaurant.  We ate there for lunch and got a great table that overlooked the Puget Sound!

Afterwords we took our first spin on Seattle's Great Wheel!

For the final Hurrah, we went to Mt. Baker for the last weekend of their stay.  We rented a quaint little cabin up in the mountains and enjoyed food, friends, cards against humanity, and of course SNOWBOARDING!

Until next time we say audieu, farewell, au revoir!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
