Shootin' & Drinkin'

Just a quick post. My friend Jamie came up last weekend from Madison for his first trip ever to Seattle. We had some good times including eating a lot of delicious food. However the highlight of the trip was definitely the LivingSocial event that we did called "Shootin' & Drinkin'". It consisted of going to the Bellevue Armory shooting range and shooint .22 & 9mm Pistols, MP5's and AK47's! We then received swat training from the King country swat team which included shooting Nazi zombies with paintball pistols. Next up was a fancy steak dinner at the Rosebud restaurant in Capitol Hill. There we sampled 3 different high quality whiskey's all the while being given the full history of Whiskey's and Scotch's. Did you know that Scotch is merely a whiskey which is made in Scotland? It was a wonderful time and something I would love to do again, especially shooting that AK47 :)

The Meier's (and Billy) visit!

Hello again! So this last week and a half we had the great fortune of entertaining some fabulous members of the Meier family. Amy, Aaron, Mike and Billy (unofficial son of the Meier family) came out for the 2nd annual Mt. Baker Snowboarding trip. Last year Mike and Aaron came out at about the exact same time to play in the mountains.

Saturday we decided to go for a brisk hike to get warmed up for Boarding the next day. Apparently a 2000ft, 2 mile hike is not so brisk. An older gentlemen passed us by about halfway up and said "You're not going to let a 65 year old man pass you, are you?" We just laughed awkwardly and let him pass us. Though it was more strenuous than we had expected, it was well worth the hike! Views to the south of Mt. Rainier we MAJESTIC! (which by the way was the word of the week).

Even the hike up through the wood was majestically beautiful!

We got some great group fotos.

Mike even picked this picture out just for you!

Speaking of which, the lookout from here is known as "Poo Poo Point". It is located on the Cougar mountain which is just outside of Seattle in Issaquah. As we drove up we saw 7 or 8 people paragliding with giant parachutes. They actually take off from the top of the mountain and glide effortlessly down to the bottom. It looks like so much fun and is definitely something I would love to do. That and go sky diving again!

On the hike down the sun was setting and provide a great ambiance that I had to try and capture.

After resting up, going to bed early and waking up at 5:00 am, we were off to Mt. Baker. It is a 3 hour drive, but well worth it! This truly is what real snowboarding is all about. By far my favorite place that I have even been boarding at!

I even got some video of these two events. It's not the best edited cause I had to use windows movie maker. My free trial of Power Director ran out so until I can find a pirated version, Movie Maker will have to do.

I know this was only 2 days out of the week + that people were here. However I had to work the rest of the week, therefore I could not partake in the festivities. I also don't have any more pictures or video, so this is where I must end it. Maybe Chrissy can post up some pictures she has. Or I'm sure Amy and Aaron will have some pictures on their blog. I'll leave you with some experimental pictures I took of the trip. Thoughts and critiques are always encouraged and welcomed! Till next time folks
