Seattle Sounders

Two weekends ago we got the chance to go to our first Seattle Sounders soccer game. I have never been to a soccer game of any sorts much less a premier league match. I was under the impression that there were few hardcore Seattle sports fans and those that were, were just fair weather fans. Turns out these fans are just Sounders fans and boy do they love their soccer! Just about every fan had either a Sounders shirt or a Sounders scarf. It was madness.

To add to the awesomeness, the tickets we got were my company tickets which were 2nd row at about the 30 yard line!!! We were basically ON the field. Although they didn't end up winning, it was still a good time and something we will definitely do again!

RAN VAN 2012

Well as many of you know I ran my second Half Marathon last weekend - May 6th - in Vancouver, B.C.  Mary Jo and I have been training for the last few months and it sure paid off.
The morning of May 6th we woke up at 5am to get ready.  At 6am we left to walk a couple miles to the starting line.  We arrived right on time with our muscles warmed up!  We started running just after 7am.  The views were great - it was a new route this year.  We went through many parts of the city and ended going through Stanley Park.

We crossed the finish line after only 2hrs.  That's about a 9.15min miles.  A huge improvement from my first half marathon where I ran about a 10.5min/mile pace.  Check out some race day photos here!

Looking perky for a 5am wake up!

We all three crossed the finish line together!
The last mile was brutal, but finishing felt amazing!  We sat in the sun, stretched, and ate our sack lunches.  We took the sky train back to our hotel to get cleaned up.

On our way out of town we stopped for a bite, the market, and pretty views at Granville Island

We ate lunch at Bridges on the patio with a view of the water and bridge!

OH! Canada!  We will see you soon!

Melting Crayons

Have you seen all the crayon art on Pinterest lately???  I thought it looked pretty cool so one Saturday night (yes we can be lame sometimes) we took up a craft project with our friend Carly.
Ben & Carly painted their canvas' black - I kept mine white.
Carly & I organized our crayons that we wanted to melt, while Ben took a different approach.

Ben used crayon shavings and a heat gun to create his masterpiece.
The final result!

I used a hair dryer to melt the crayons down the side.

Check out the time lapse video Ben made on how we did it.  We have more ideas for round 2 of crayon art.  It's pretty fun, you should try it.
