Memorial Day Weekend 2011

Welcome back to the 3rd annual Memorial Day camping trip to George, Wa. The last two years we have spent this 3 day holiday in the middle of the desert 2009, 2010 >. This year we decided to change it up a little by moving north by about 10 miles. It was still the same type of environment, however it was located near a bunch of small lakes. We also were able to have our own campsite that was no where near anyone else. Awesome! Here is the 2011 crew:

It was about 75 degrees and sunny. Very Nice! I guess you can always count on it being warm in the desert. However it did get down to the 40's at night. We had a great site with a wonderful view.

We went for a long hike through the canyon that was etched away over millions of years by the Columbia River. It is truly amazing to see such majestic beauty only 2 hours away.

Along our hike we would happen upon bountiful bouquets of beautiful flowers.

We even stumbled across what looked to be a vineyard. However it was still a ways away and would probably have been trespassing had we decided to sample the goods.

There even happened to be some animals that we came across on our travels.

As we continued along we also happened up an increasing amount of doo-doo.

Wondering what animal, human or Sasquatch was leaving behind these poo presents, we continued back to camp. Later that day, our present bringer decided to stop by to pay us a visit:

A COYOTE! Don't worry, he never came that close and bolted off the second we spotted him and caught chase. It was pretty cool though to actually see a coyote in real life. After the Coyote sighting we decided to go for an offroad drive around the area to see what else we could stumble upon. Unfortunately we found no more wildlife. However we did find a gaggle of photo opportunities.

Since I am always the one behind the camera, I decided to have Chrissy do a mini photo shoot. Here's the results:

Overall all, it's always nice to just be out with good friends for a good time. We had a great group this year and always invite others to join us.

This is a tradition that we have no intention of breaking.

PS. If you didn't know, Chrissy loves marshmallows and will gladly make you a brownie-s'more if you ask. However she likes to let Andy do all of the unloading and heavy lifting.

PPS. I got a new toy ;)
