Annual Seattle Boardfest '12

Every year about this time, Mike and Aaron come out for our annual Seattle Boardfest week. Last year Mike's friend Billy came out to enjoy the Seattle mountain snow. This year Billy couldn't make it, however Dom could. This was his first real time west and it sounded like he had a great time. We were happy to have him join us and always have an open bed or couch for him to stay on.

Mike came out a week earlier to fully enjoy his time in the Northwest. Friday night we went to an incredible show by the group Doomtree. They are a Minneapolis based Hip-hop group who have a strong following all over. There were many "TC" Twins hats bumping to the music as they proceeded to throw down a ridiculously awesome/banging set. We found ourselves singing their songs throughout the week.

BANGARANG!

Mike even put together an AWESOME video slideshow. Watchout for that Doomtree ;)

Seattle is known for its numerous eatery establishments. People that come to visit often find themselves going on the tour of Seattle as experienced by their taste buds. So much delicious food, so little time. At least we hit up our 4 favorites: Elliot Bay Brewery, The Cactus, Portage Bay and Northlake Pizza. Did I mention the delicious beers on tap?

We also headed out East into the Cascades to experience some lush nature. Of course it was raining that day, but it didn't stop us from suiting up and trekking deep into the forest. Due to the recent snow/ice storms in Seattle, there were many a branch that had fallen onto the path. As we navigated over/around/through the debris, we actually heard the loud crack a giant branch drop near us. A little scary but pretty cool.

Mike just belongs among the trees. Don't you agree?

Sunday we went to REI to pick up boots, socks, shoes and other necessities. While we were there we decided to climb the "Pinnacle" rock wall. This was a fantastic, 4 story climb to the top. Me and Chrissy did the 5.6 'Mt. Triumph' route which provide a great challenge while Mike did the 5.4 'Nothern Ingalis' route. He did awesome for his first time ever climbing and said he loved doing it. Chrissy has been climbing a lot lately and even bought a pair of climbing shoes, a harness and chalk bag. She is also a registered Belay-er (however you spell that?) so we will be going climbing this summer. Yes.

Saturday Night was another night out on the town. It was Chrissy's friends birthday party so we went out to celebrate. She rented out the VIP section of the Amber Club. It was definitely a "Bro's" type of place with "fist-pumping" required to enter the door. With this came $8, watered down drinks. Weak. Despite hating everything about the place, we still had a great time which included our own little dance party.

Aaron and Dom arrived later that week. While I worked, they took in the sights that Seattle had to offer. The market and Chowdah never disappoint.

Northlake Pizza also never disappoints!

To take in the sights we also took a walk down Alki beach for a beautiful sunset. We even spotted a Bald Eagle fly by directly in front of us. Cool.
